Since 1998 Afek works for empowerment of a young generation in Kiryat Gat , providing a wide variety of educational, cultural a welfware programs in framework of informal education. As establishers of the organization we can proudly state that ten years of work has brought good and clear results. Afek, first defined as "a new immigrant  teachers for new immigrant students"  organization, in years has undergwent through a positive process of integration and today mingles teachers and students from different social and ethnic groups, all sucessfully working together.

Afek's 350 students are children and teenagers with great potential , motivation and wish to succeed. They are active participants in social and cultural city's life, they perform on sity's concerts , and important community events. They represent K.Gat in national and international festivals and competitions. They show good results at school and are confident about their future.                         

In 2007,  Afek has undretaken a resposibility for operation of a community center  "Shivtei Israel" located between the undrepriviledged neghborhoods "Zerah" and "Glikson" in Kiryat Gat , by this , we beleve contributing to important and  positive change in the neghborhood. Today, our goal is to reach more children from the weak social layers, at risk youth and to involve them in our enreaching projects.
